How do I reset or change my password?

Warning

Your password is your key into all SU Electronic services. If you don’t have a password or it is not working, start with the Forgot Password option.

Keep it safe and give it to nobody.

Your password expires every 3 months, or 90 days.

Setup Multifactor Authentication (MFA)

(What is MFA?)

  1. Setup MFA here - use your full email address, i.e. 12345678@sun.ac.za, and new password.
  2. IMPORTANT - In Step 1: How should we contact you? - Choose Mobile App.
  3. Setup your Microsoft Authenticator App by following the instructions prompted on the screen.
  4. NOTE - If you do not have a smartphone, please choose SMS. When chosing SMS, make sure the university have your correct cell phone number. Correct it here AND here

What is my email address?

  1. Your email address is your_student_number@sun.ac.za e.g. 12345678@sun.ac.za
  2. You can read your Outlook email in the Office365 Cloud at outlook.office.com.

How do I print?

Please note that you can only print if you have a valid student card.

  1. Open UserAdmin.
  2. Login with your student number and password.
  3. You need to load money onto the printing system, from your student account.
  4. Once the money is loaded proceed to print.
  5. Use the STB_PRINT_Q01 on stbsc03 - printer from the list.
  6. Click print, then go to any of the printers. Tap your card on the SafeCom sticker found at the top of the printer to retrieve your document.

How do I load printing credits online?

From the my.SUN menu the following options must be selected if students would like to pay for PRINTING

  1. Log onto SUNStudent
  2. On the left side of the screen select 'Requests'
  3. Click on 'All Requests' in the opened window
  4. In the 'All Requests' tab the previously raised service requests can be viewed in the top half of the screen
  5. For a new service request, click on the 'Raise Request' button
  6. In the pop-up window, click on 'Printing Quota'

How do I use Eduroam - our campus Wifi?

Download this document for all you need to know about eduRoam wifi.

  1. On your device – look for the Eduroam Wifi and connect.
  2. Login with your full email address (e.g. 12345678@sun.ac.za) and password.
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  4. You will need to repeat this process for each device (one registration fee) – you can register up to 5 devices

How do I access the internet on campus?

The internet on campus works by browsing to the internet as perusual.

All services are free, but if you abuse this service you will be banned to use the internet.

Where do I go for help with my laptop/smart phone?

The IT HUB / IT Service Walk in Centre is the place to go. BUT First search their blog here to see if you can help yourself.

How do I access SUN Learn?

  1. Open any internet browser (such as Chrome or IE) and go to learn.sun.ac.za.
  2. Click on ‘LOGIN’ to sign in (top right).
  3. Sign in with your student number and university password.
  4. Click on a module title to access the module content.

What is Phishing?

According to WikiPedia, Phishing is the fraudulent attempt to obtain sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by disguising as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication.

Please never give anyone your login credentials. Do not ever enter your password at any source not familiar to you.
